Privacy policy

This policy explains what data Trato uses to manage freelance projects, document agreements, and track payments and refunds.

Your account and workspace

We use your email address to create and verify your account. We store the client details, projects, agreements, files, and conversations you add to your workspace so you can refer to their history. Experiences and supporting files you choose to publish in Reputation are visible to other Trato accounts.

Trato's central mailbox

The Trato team authorizes its central mailbox through Google OAuth. Trato uses send access to deliver proposals and payment requests you confirm. It uses read access to check the conversations associated with those emails, verify where a reply came from, and display it in the corresponding project. Signing up for Trato uses your email address and does not request access to your personal mailbox.

Google authorization credentials are encrypted on the server. Trato keeps message and thread identifiers, sender and recipient details, dates, and the contents of replies recorded in the project. Attachments from those threads can be accessed as supporting evidence for an agreement or change request.

The client receives the proposal or payment request at their email address. Linked replies are available in the authorized project. Trato uses hosting and storage providers to run this workflow and may use AI to analyze client replies for acceptance or requested changes. Data obtained from Google is used for these Trato features and is not used for advertising or to train generalized AI models.

Trato's use and transfer to other apps of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Limited Use requirements of the Google API Services User Data Policy.

Documents, AI, and payments

Trato uses extraction and search services to prepare the documents you add. It uses Gemini to analyze content, draft plans, and answer questions based on available sources. Payments in this version are processed in PayPal Sandbox. Trato keeps the references, amounts, and statuses needed to track them.

Access, retention, and deletion

Trato retains project records so you can review and track them. The team can disconnect the mailbox in Trato or revoke access from the Google account. Replies already recorded remain part of the project history.
